  • With Rosemary Riedel O’Brien.

    Saturday 8th November 10am - 4pm.

Humble hand-work connects us to our ancestors, and the spiralling lineage from which we have all emerged. Using the sacred tools and materials, conjured by the elements of this wild earth, we will together alchemise simple magic into a bespoke cloth. A land prayer, offered to Life from your hands.

Our day at the Dartmoor wool loft will combine the practical teachings of how to weave on the rigid heddle loom  alongside the intentional and spiritual element of this Craft. We will work with locally sourced wools, hand-spun yarns and naturally dyed threads. These tools, plants and fibres contain the essence of heritage, and our innate connection to the web of life.

This day will include a deepening into some simple pattern techniques, touching on the art of naturally dying, how to work with plant fibres and generally connect more to the practise. Combining intention with craft, and infusing symbolism into your making, you will manifest a woven spell that can form your own wall hanging, altar cloth or sample piece and mark the deepening of your woven journey.

    £105 with all materials included.

  • With Rosemary Riedel O’Brien.

    Saturday 27th September 2025 1pm - 4pm.

To craft a Womb belt is to create a cloth of honouring, protection and sanctuary. Our bodies, the Earth and all beings are sacred. The loom offers us a way to express our connection to the Land.

Together, using the rigid heddle loom and a variety of precious spun fibres we will form a Handmade creation that marks the sacredness of our womb spaces. We will fuse the practical elements of making with the magic of meaning. This is a call to deepen into the craft and your connection with your womb space.

As our day together I falls near to the Autumn Equinox, we will be working with the themes of Balance, Deepening and the Harvest.

This workshop is suitable for women of all ages and at all stages of life. The womb space is an energetic place within the body, and holds the energy of the root and deep earth. Regardless of whether you’re still bleeding, or if you have a physical womb, this is a place within all bodies that calls to be honoured through the warming presence of woven fabric.

  • This is the second series of Women’s Crafting and Sharing Circles held here at the Dartmoor Wool Loft and hosted by Nat Torr and Suzi Crockford.

Women have, for generations, sat in circles crafting and talking about their lives. It can be deeply nourishing for our nervous systems to be heard & also to listen to others. Add in the self-regulation that crafting brings to our nervous systems & the potential for healing is very rich.

We are running a 6-month series of women’s sharing and craft circles for women who already have an established craft & who would like to deepen their connection to other women and themselves. This is also suitable for women who would like to set up their own women’s circle and would like to learn more about the format.

Nat & Suzi have been part of women’s circles for many years and will be facilitating and holding this space. They will be following the ‘Way of Council’ format:  Confidentiality, Speaking from the heart, Listening with the heart, and Being spontaneous & lean of words.  If you’d like to find out more please get in touch. We are offering 1 taster sessions for people who want to try it out and then afterwards we are asking for a commitment to the following 5 month’s of sessions.

  • Peg Looming workshop

I wanted to say a huge Thank You for the peg weaving workshop. I absolutely loved it - the Wool Loft is such a welcoming space, really lovely! Thank you for all your help, clear instruction and patience teaching us all - I loved all the options: different warp string, beautiful fleeces or rovings to choose. We all made something unique to us, which is really special. (KH)

  • Introduction to Darning

I throughly enjoyed this workshop. I felt it was well paced and Molly gave clear and easy to follow instructions. All equipment necessary was provided and easy to use, and the space was welcoming. I enjoyed being there and sharing the camaraderie. Although there was a hand-out, I found I didn't need it as the instructions given by Molly were enough. Looking forward to hopefully doing an advanced darning working with Molly in the near future.

Many thanks Wool Loft and Molly. (MR)

  • Introduction to Darning

I thought the darning workshop was lovely. It was clearly explained and there was plenty of equipment and samples provided. It was a relaxed atmosphere but also informative and inspiring. There was a feeling of warmth respect and kindness in the space.

Loved the biscuits!! And the regular supply of tea!

The Wool Loft is a magical space that seems to have a unique caring environment. It's a gift to Moretonhampstead and feels like a tangible link with our ancestors in Devon. (MH)
